How to Display Rotating Testimonials in WordPress with Plugin

The testimonial can be regarded as a critical component if your website is an e-commerce one for online selling. With these positive words, people can have more ideas about your products and services based on the feedbacks of your current customers. To be frank, testimonials are much more convincing for proving the quality of your commodities than purely launching some advertisements or the promotional campaigns.

In the following, we’d like to introduce how to add rotating testimonials in WordPress sites, showcasing these credible words in an ultimately vivid manner.

Make Use of the Rotating Testimonial Plugin

Rotating Testimonial is a powerful plugin allowing users to showcase testimonials at random in any post/page or the web page sidebar. Follow this guide to achieve your goal by using the selected plugin.

Install Rotating Testimonial Plugin on Website

Log into website dashboard and search for Rotating Testimonial plugin via Plugins > Add New. And then, get a search result as below. Click “Install Now” to install this plugin on your website and then activate it.

Install Rotating Testimonial

Upon activation, a new item called “Rotating Testimonial” is shown in the sidebar. That enables multiple features for the customization of author fields, content font, author font style, etc.

Set Up Testimonial Options

Go to Rotating Testimonial > Options and here come three columns of settings for testimonial customization. That includes some basic settings, content settings and author settings. Note that, you can override all options when adding the testimonial widget to your website (mentioned in step 4).

Testimonial Options

  • Basic Setting – This is where to customize the testimonial widget, in terms of title, size, the way to rotate testimonials, pagination button, background color, transition speed and transition timeout. Decide which testimonials should be displayed in the widget by entering the corresponding ID numbers. Separate each ID with a comma.
  • Testimonial Content Setting – This is where to set the size, color, style and weight of the content font. Customize the given settings as needed and make it match with your web design perfectly.
  • Testimonial Author Setting – This is where to customize the author field, in terms of author font size, color, style and weight.

Set up the given options to take a good use of this plugin. Leave the default settings or make some changes. That depends.

Create New Testimonials

Go to Rotating Testimonial > Add Testimonial. Here you come to the Testimonial Detail page to add the real testimonials. Add the author name, author image and author’s testimonial as required. Note that, there is no need to upload the author image to media library. You can select a proper image from your computer directly.

Add New Testimonial

Click “Submit” button to confirm all information. And then, create as many testimonials as needed in the same manner. Having all testimonials created, go to Rotating Testimonial > Testimonial List to check all testimonials. The first two testimonials written by Author 1 and Author 2 are shown as examples, which can be deleted or edited according to personal needs.

The shortcode [view_testimonial] is used to add rotating testimonial to a page or post. Create a new page/post or edit an existing one. Copy and paste this shortcode to the page/post. Save changes and preview it on website front-end. If there is a need to modify the rotating testimonials, go to Rotating Testimonial > Options and do what we’ve mentioned in step 2.

Next, we sincerely recommend you to try one that is named as Testimonials Widget with Rotator Widget, which is a simple and flexible plugin to automatically rotate the testimonials in both of your sidebar and a special webpage. Here, we have showcased the detailed steps of how to use it.

Decide the Testimonial Design

After you installing this special testimonial plugin in your admin, you need to click the WP Testimonials tab that is newly added and hit the Testimonial Designs from the dropdown. Here, you can find 4 styles for the display of each testimonial, showcasing not only the detailed positive words, but also the head portrait, name, company and occupation of the client.

Add New Testimonials

Now, you can start to add the testimonials by clicking the Add New button from the WP Testimonials tab. The process is as simple as publishing a blog post.

  • Title – The title just summarizes the testimonial briefly. You can enter something like “Great Service”, “Really Helpful” and “Impressive Work”.
  • Body – This part requires you to enter the testimonial details. To ensure the appealing display, you’d better control the maximum word count to 50.
  • Testimonial Details – Here, you need to enter the client name, job title, company and the blog URL if available to strengthen the truthfulness of the testimonial.
  • Author Image – To prove that this testimonial is submitted by a real customer, you’d better upload the head portrait of your client in the Featured Image box.

Testimonial Details

After filling out these aspects, you can click the Publish button. Besides, in the All Testimonials part, you can check and manage these published testimonials easily.

All Testimonials

In addition, if you want to categorize these testimonials for different products and services available on your site, you can also create multiple groups by clicking the Category button. Then, before publishing your testimonials, do not forget to add them into the right groups.

Showcase Rotating Testimonials in Your Webpage

Now, you can display these testimonials in either your webpage or the sidebar. Here, let’s start from the showcase on the webpage.

To begin with, you need to decide the exact webpage that can be used to present these testimonials. As researched among a lot of popular websites, we have found that the homepage and the “About Us” page are the great options.

Then, you need to open it for editing and enter the shortcode you have saved previously. This time, we take the Design-1 as an example.

Design-1 Shortcode

The first line of shortcode allows you to display all the testimonials in a sticky manner.

Sticky Testimonials

As for the second line of shortcode that has the “slider” parameter, it allows you to rotate these testimonials automatically.

Rotating Testimonials

In fact, this plugin allows a large number of parameters that can be added into the generated shortcodes, helping you customize the testimonial designs based on your preference. We have listed some useful ones in the following.

  • sliders_column – Decides the number of columns showcased for the testimonial rotator. The default value is two.
  • slider_scroll – Decides the number of slides for each rotating.
  • autoplay_interval – Decides the interval between each rotating based on milliseconds.
  • limit – Decides the maximum number of testimonials that can be showcased.
  • orderby – Orders your testimonials by ID or posting date.
  • category – Display your testimonials by their category ID.

Also, you can choose not to display the client name, job, company, avatar and many more in the testimonials using the parameters listed in this document.

Showcase Rotating Testimonials in Your Sidebar

In fact, this plugin generates a WP Testimonials Slider widget automatically, with which you can showcase the rotating testimonials easily by dragging this special widget in your sidebar section.

WP Testimonials Slider Widget

As for the settings of this widget, you can decide based on your preference. But personally, we recommend you to set only one column and one slide for each scroll, so that your sidebar will not look weird. Besides, if you do not want to restrict the number of testimonials to be displayed, you can set the value of Limit to “-1”.

That’s it. Now, you can check your front-end sidebar, and the testimonials can be showcased just like the below demo.
