Testimonials intuitively indicate how popular your business is and what the clients truly think about your services. As thus, displaying testimonials on website is a great method to leave an initial impression on visitors. For some websites with a large number of testimonials, making those rotate should be in consideration. That shows all customer reviews in the roll.
This guide briefs you on an easy way to enable WordPress rotating testimonials on a website, namely, Rotating Testimonial. This is a powerful plugin allowing users to showcase testimonials at random in any post/page or the web page sidebar. Follow this guide to achieve your goal by using the selected plugin.
Step 1: Install Rotating Testimonial Plugin on Website
Log into website dashboard and search for Rotating Testimonial plugin via Plugins > Add New. And then, get a search result as below. Click “Install Now” to install this plugin on your website and then activate it.
Upon activation, a new item called “Rotating Testimonial” is shown in the sidebar. That enables multiple features for the customization of author fields, content font, author font style, etc.
Step 2: Set Up Testimonial Options
Go to Rotating Testimonial > Options and here come three columns of settings for testimonial customization. That includes some basic settings, content settings and author settings. Note that, you can override all options when adding the testimonial widget to your website (mentioned in step 4).
- Basic Setting – This is where to customize the testimonial widget, in terms of title, size, the way to rotate testimonials, pagination button, background color, transition speed and transition timeout. Decide which testimonials should be displayed in the widget by entering the corresponding ID numbers. Separate each ID with a comma.
- Testimonial Content Setting – This is where to set the size, color, style and weight of the content font. Customize the given settings as needed and make it match with your web design perfectly.
- Testimonial Author Setting – This is where to customize the author field, in terms of author font size, color, style and weight.
Set up the given options to take a good use of this plugin. Leave the default settings or make some changes. That depends.
Step 3: Create New Testimonials
Go to Rotating Testimonial > Add Testimonial. Here you come to the Testimonial Detail page to add the real testimonials. Add the author name, author image and author’s testimonial as required. Note that, there is no need to upload the author image to media library. You can select a proper image from your computer directly.
Click “Submit” button to confirm all information. And then, create as many testimonials as needed in the same manner. Having all testimonials created, go to Rotating Testimonial > Testimonial List to check all testimonials. The first two testimonials written by Author 1 and Author 2 are shown as examples, which can be deleted or edited according to personal needs.
Step 4: Display Testimonial Widget on Your Web Page
Go to Appearance > Widgets and target the widget called “Rotate Testimonials”. Drag and drop this widget to the right sidebar area. A list of settings is expanded automatically. Customize content font, author font, widget title, widget size and transition speed & timeout as needed.
Enter testimonial IDs as required to display specific customer reviews on website. Click “Save” button to confirm all changes.
Step 5: Display Rotating Testimonial on a Page/Post Using Shortcode
The shortcode [view_testimonial] is used to add rotating testimonial to a page or post. Create a new page/post or edit an existing one. Copy and paste this shortcode to the page/post. Save changes and preview it on website front-end. If there is a need to modify the rotating testimonials, go to Rotating Testimonial > Options and do what we’ve mentioned in step 2.
In addition to the plugin selected in this guide, some other plugins are also designed for the same purpose, such as Testimonials Widget, WP Testimonial, Testimonials Slider, etc.
