How to Embed PDF File into WordPress Websites?

PDF is widely used in website posts and pages. It can contain a lot of information just take a small space. Thus, many people are inclined to embed a PDF file in a post to explain sophisticated things. However, considering that not everyone knows how to use it, we write the tutorial to help people embed PDF file to a WordPress website.

About PDF

PDFPDF is a file format that can present documents in a manner independent of application software, hardware, and operating systems. Each PDF file encapsulates a complete description of a fixed-layout flat document – the text, fonts, graphics, and other information needed to display it.

PDF is developed in the early 1990s as a way to share documents, among computer users of different platforms who may not have access to mutually-compatible application software. After years developing, now it is very popular in desk publishing workflows.

PDF files have many usages to help webmasters manage their websites in an easy and labor-saving way. On the one side, you can insert the file to post to present information. On the other side, you can make your posts into PDF files and save them. Besides, if you add PDF editors to your site, visitors can save or share your article in PDF format.

How to Embed PDF File into WordPress Website

Embedding a PDF file into posts or pages makes it possible to view the file in the post itself, without the need to open another window to display the file. In this way, readers may feel comfortable and convenient when going through your articles. At the first sight, you may believe the process is difficult and complex, but the truth is totally on the contrary. There are only several steps to follow.

The first thing you need to do is installing a plugin named as Embed PDF. Log in to your WordPress dashboard. Click on Plugin on the left side, then choose add new. In the next, you can see the Install Plugin page; enter Embed PDF in the search bar. You can see the plugin appearing and choose one to install it, and the WordPress will download a PDF file to your computer.

Next, go back to your WordPress dashboard and find out the article you open before. Edit that post or page and you can see an Add New button on the top. Click on the button, there are four choices appear: Post, Media, Link, and Page. You choose to add a media.

Then, a page popup and all computer local files are presented, choose the PDF file you want, and click on open. Then, back to WordPress and click on Upload. Till now, your file is saved in the media library. Edit the file and you will get a link on the right side. Copy it and then, go back to the post that you want to add the file.
